NTQLS is a well-established department and the counselors are the pillars of the department. These staff members have expertise in the area of Psychology and Social Work and hold Post-graduate degrees in their respective fields. In addition to this, the counselors take keen interest in extra curriculum activities of the department, like; organizing awareness campaigns, doing role plays, dancing, etc. At the initial stage of joining the department, all the counsellors are provided with the counselling training by the team of professional trainers from the different areas of expertise. Now, the counselors of NTQLS have become so skillful in the field of counselling and data management that they can easily manage the hurdles encountered at work.
The Government has established a National level tobacco cessation Quitline in Vallabhbhai Patel Chest Institute (VPCI), New Delhi with a toll free number (1800-11-2356) and the services have been expanded to regional satellite centres since 2018.
